Richard Amos Maltby was born October 6, 1927 and went home March 5, 2017. He was the second son of Amos and Grace Maltby of Antigo WI.

After graduating from Antigo High School, where he played football and basketball, he joined the Navy and upon honorable discharge from the Navy he went to the University of Wisconsin Madison, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in law, he then joined the U. S. Army in February 1952 and was honorably discharged in February 1954. He then worked for the Naval Investigative Service until his retirement in 1982.

He married Jeanne Webster February 1955 they adopted their daughter, Julie Ann in December 1964. He was an avid golfer and loved music especially big band, jazz and Frank Sinatra, he was a devoted husband and a wonderful father! Upon moving to the Woodlands he became a member of and was confirmed at St James Episcopal Church in Conroe.

Richard was preceded in death by his father and mother; his brother Robert; sister-in-law Audrey; and his wife Jeanne. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Julie and Gary Mince; grandsons Daniel Mince and Patrick Mince; nephews Bill Maltby and Mike Maltby; nieces Anne Helton and Mary Meredith.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to MRC Creekside in Huntsville, Texas or St James Episcopal Church Friends of Music.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
