Richard "Pete" Bernard Mills passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016 in Conroe, Texas at the age of 91. He was born August 6, 1924 in Alfred, Texas to Belle Williams Mills and Mora Volney Mills. Pete served in the United States Army during WWII and received the WWII Victory Medal. Once honorably discharged, he married Lilian Gregory Mills of Three Rivers, Texas. They celebrated their 69 th anniversary before she preceded him in death in August 2015. He enjoyed Bob Wills and Texas swing music and played bass fiddle for years. Pete spent many years working the oilfields of South and West Texas as a salesman for D & W Oil Tools and Oil Field Rental Service Company. Upon his retirement from the oilfield, he and Lillian owned and operated RL&M Leasing Company, a long-haul trucking service. Pete was passionate about being a Mason and a Shriner. He was raised as a Mason at Victoria Lodge No. 40 in 1954 and received his 50 year pin from Del Mar Lodge 1350 in 2004. He was a member of Al Amin Shrine and Royal Order of Jesters 176 in Corpus Christi, Texas for many years. He is survived by his daughter, Meredith Moore, of Charles Town, West Virginia, his son Richard Wayne Mills and wife Margaret of Conroe, Texas, four grandchildren, Kimberly Fryer and Jason Fryer of Houston, Texas, Richard Lee Mills and wife Melissa of Conroe, Texas, and Stacie Majkszak of Conroe, Texas as well as five great grandchildren. The family is deeply grateful for the dedicated care provided by his caregiver, Janice Lee of Willis, Texas. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 23 at 4:00 pm at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe, Texas with Pastor Tim Byrd officiating.
