They raised a large family of five daughters and one son and he enjoyed his twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren all of whom survive him. He and his wife Shirley converted to the Catholic faith in Monterey, California in 1993. They moved to Del Lago at Lake Conroe in 1998.

He was awarded the ROK Korean Service Medal, United Nations Korean Service Medal, Korean Service Medal (with four campaign stars), National Defense Service Medal, Navy Occupation Medal, China Service Medal and the Navy Good Conduct Medal.

After serving in the Navy he completed his education at Citrus Community College and California State University at Los Angeles. He retired as the Chief Information Officer and Director of information Technology of Monterey County, California in 1998. He held similar management positions in the field of information technology previously with the City and County of Denver and for many years in the private sector.

Life held a surprise for Bob when he found love for a second time. He married Mary Ann Flannery on April 11, 2015.

Bob hoped and prayed daily to be reunited in heaven with all of his dear departed family.
