Ronald (Ron) R. Johns Sr., founder and president of Murphy Shipping and Commercial Services, Inc., finished his quick yet intense battle with cancer - very rare sarcomas in his liver, at St. Luke's Hospital in The Woodlands, TX on Saturday evening, February 17, 2018. He was 66 years old. With family surrounding him, he finished his race fearlessly and WON! Heaven received a determined conqueror, a relentless pursuer of righteousness, a successful business owner, and a faithful family man.

Born March 7, 1951 in Fort Lewis, WA to David Melville Johns Jr. and Helen Josephine Benetin, Ron graduated from Sequoia High School in Redwood City, CA in 1969. While there, he won a wrestling title as the Southern Peninsula Athletic League Champion in his weight division. He also served in the United States Marine Corps from September 23, 1971 to September 21, 1973. On January 2, 1975, Ron married Luanne Elizabeth Makley, and together raised five wonderful children.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, David and Helen; his brothers, Mike and Terry Johns; and his sister, Mary Jo Johns. A dearly devoted husband, highly esteemed brother, treasured father and cherished pawpaw, Ron is survived by his wife, Luanne Johns and her brother, Luther Makley; his brothers, Jim, Chris, Joe, John, and Richard Johns and his sister, Cyndi Crechriou; his children, Ronald Johns Jr. and his wife, Yoko; David Johns and his wife, LaNell; Adam Johns and his wife, Maria; Hannah Fountain and her husband, Will; and Josh Johns; his grandchildren, Ronald Richard III, and Jacob Johns; Naomi, Natalie, Caleb, Calvin, and Nathan Johns; Gideon and Boaz Johns; and Clay, Pryce, Faith, and Joy Fountain.

Ron, a steadfast entrepreneur, established Murphy Shipping and Commercial Services, Inc., in Houston, TX. As owner of the company since 1997, its productivity has maintained success worldwide. Ron was also an active board member of Kingdom Ranch Church in Bryan, TX, where he faithfully attended and generously tithed, firmly believing in the ministerial work of his son-in-law and daughter, Pastors Will and Hannah Fountain.

Ron was a force of nature and deeply anchored himself in God's love, from which he drew immeasurable strength. He will especially be remembered for his unwavering faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his bold humility and tenacity to see justice, and his earnest desire for all of his children to succeed in life. He never gave up, and he never lost hope. Once he set his mind to accomplish the task at hand, he would see it through no matter what!

Furthermore, he will be remembered for his active lifestyle of exercise, long distance target practicing, and prairie dog hunting from 1154 yards in Rapid City, SD. The good work that God began in Ron's life, and which he so desired to continue and see fulfilled, will most definitely be accomplished by the hands of his children and grandchildren for generations to come.

A funeral service and visitation will be on Friday, February 23, 2018. Visitation is from 2:00-3:00p.m. with the funeral following at 3:00p.m. at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, TX 77303.
