Ronald Lawrence Chene, of The Woodlands, TX, passed away at the age of 69 on August 6, 2014. He, and wife, Sue, enjoyed 5 amazing days of vacation together before he was called home. Born in Detroit, MI, the son of Frances and Nelson Chene, brother to Gary Chene. Ron was Class of 1964 at Lakeshore High School where he met his wife. He was married to Susan Damm in 1967 and they enjoyed 47 wonderful years together. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Nelson, his brother Gary, as well as his father and mother-in-law, Ed and Betty Damm. Survived by wife, Susan of The Woodlands, TX, son Scott and wife Shannon of Spring, TX, daughter Stacey Morella and husband Sean of Houston, TX, and 6 grandchildren, Christian, Micah, Marissa, Sydney, Makenzie, and Ryne (in order of birth but not in importance in any way). Also survived by brother-in-law Eddie Damm and wife Anne of Bar Harbor, ME and their children Jessie Lawford and fiancé Patrice Exilus of Lebanon, NH, Eddie Damm and fiancée Shelby Scott of Bar Harbor, ME, and Susie Damm of Bar Harbor, ME. Survived by his friend of over 50 years, Dennis Gehringer and wife Patty of Seminole, FL. Ron, Sue, Denny and Patty enjoyed many adventures together over the years. Ron was an amazing husband, father and friend and dedicated his life to making life better for those around him. He and his wife began Chene Interiors and worked side by side for 31 years. He was part of the families that began Concordia Lutheran High School in Tomball, TX with nothing more than a dream. He was part of The City of Tomball with heavy involvement with emergency services. He joined the Tomball Lions Club in January, 1982 where his true passion was found. He served 32 years in the Tomball Lions Club and loved every moment. Winner of the Joe Mahon Fellowship and the Melvin Jones Fellowship, the highest honor locally and internationally for a Lion. His heart was always with the Texas Lions Camp in Kerrville, TX. Helping children and all people was his heart and he believed in the power of volunteerism. A celebration of his amazing life will be held at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 3801 S Panther Creek Dr, The Woodlands, TX 77381 on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 11:00am. The service will be open to those that want to speak.
