Lake Arthur: It's with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Rose Mary Scarborough announces her passing from this life on February 25, 2016 at the age of 79. Rose was born in Conroe, TX to Ben Hoffart and Margaret Mock Hoffart on January 25, 1937. She was a Librarian for the Jeff Davis Parish Library and devoted her life to taking care of those she loved. Rose was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Ladies Alter Society, and the Library Club. She was a very active member of her church, where she was a Eucharistic Minister and a Confirmation Teacher. Rose held the honor of Mother of the Year as well. When she was not enjoying activities with church, she enjoyed reading, sewing and spending time with her family. Rose will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Rose is survived by her three sons, Arthur Scarborough (Carla) of Carlyss, LA, Mike Scarborough of Lake Arthur, LA, Remmie Scarborough of Lake Arthur, LA; six daughters, Mary Velazquez (Louie) of Houston TX, Brenda Buller (James) of Jennings, LA, Dorothy Courville (Ronnie) of Lake Arthur, LA, Deanna LeMaire (Rick) of Lake Arthur, LA, Margaret Scarborough Greer (Victor) of Los Angeles, CA, Melinda Scarborough (Gary) of Jennings, LA; one brother, Willie Hoffart (Theresa) of Willis, TX; one sister, Janice Leck (Kenneth) of Bay City, TX; as well as twenty-one grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.

Rose is now rejoicing in Heaven with the family that preceded her in death: her parents, Ben and Margaret Mock Hoffart; her beloved husband, Hugh Scarborough; three sisters, Margaret Hoffart, Margie Stubbs, and Irene Witherspoon; one brother, Bernard "Nordy" Hoffart.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 2:00 PM with Msgr. Ronald Groth officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Lake Arthur, LA on Monday, February 29th from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary recited at 6:00 PM Monday evening. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, March 1st at 8:00 AM until the time of her Funeral Mass at 2:00 PM. Rose will be laid to rest in St. Anthony Cemetery.

Carrying Rose to her final resting place in St. Anthony Cemetery will be Gabe Velazquez, Rick LeMaire, Ronnie Courville, Noah Scarborough, John Courville, Trey Moore, and Brett LaBauve
