Roy Lee O'Daniel passed away at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston at the age of 64 on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 after a valiant battle with cancer. He will continue to be loved and missed by his family and friends.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 11 AM at McNutt Funeral Home at 1703 Porter Rd. in Conroe, Texas. Phone: 936-756-2724

Roy was born January 22, 1952 in Paris, Texas but moved to the Houston area as an infant with his parents, Charlie and Elnora Florence Petry O'Daniel. At the age of one, his birthmother passed away, and he was raised by his beloved stepmother Doris Ann Heaton O'Daniel. In Houston, he made many lifelong friendships and thrived, becoming a two sport letterman at Sam Houston High School. After high school, he continued to play competitive softball on a team that placed third in a national tournament. Around the same time, it became clear that Roy was highly skilled in carpentry and construction, fields in which he continued to excel until his illness sidelined him last year. Roy built several of the high rises in downtown Houston and Conroe as well as several restaurants throughout the United States. While working in construction, he met the love of his life Dora Colley, whom he married in Houston in 1982.

Above all, Roy was a devoted father to his cherished daughters, Rachel and Jamie. Roy, Dora, and their girls shared a full life while living in the Houston area. Roy will be profoundly missed by Dora, his wife of 34 years; his daughters Rachel and Jamie of Spring; Son-in-laws Chris Lloyd and Kenji Tanaka of Spring. Also missing Roy will be his grandchildren, Rebecca and Cameron Lloyd; his older brothers Charlie O'Daniel of Houston, and Charles Wayne O'Daniel of Lake Jackson; and numerous friends, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Roy was predeceased by his parents, stepmother, and an infant daughter Rebecca Ann O'Daniel.
