Ruben William "Bill" Teel went home to be with his Lord February 28, 2012. Preceded in death by Parents Joseph Clarence Teel and Lucy Mae Bradford Teel, Brothers Aubrey Teel, Leroy Teel, Henry Teel, Sisters, Margie Teel King, Eunice Teel Shaw and Dorothy Teel Frasier.

He is survived by his loving wife, of 58 years, Vida Harper Teel, Children, Lydia Cheryl Teel Gurule' and husband Joseph Gurule', Alicia Teel Caldwell and husband Ben Caldwell, Joseph William Teel and Dr. Christopher James Glenn. Grandchildren, Carmen DeAnne Pleasa, Camren DeWayne Collier and wife Jennifer Key Collier, Chadwick Ryan Caldwell and wife Marianne Diehl Caldwell, Cody William Caldwell. Great Grandchildren, Anthony "JR" Ray Pleasa and Cory James Collier. Beloved Cousin Gloria Teel Franklin, numerous Brother and Sister-in-Laws, Nieces, Nephews, Church Family, Collegues and Business Associates.

Educated and graduated from Willis High School, University of Houston, University of Oklahoma and an instructor at the Texas A&M University Brayden Fire School. He served as Deacon and spiritual leader at New Hope Baptist Church and was a Mason of the 32 order with the Aldine Blue Lodge #1412 of the Scottish Rite.

A certified Safety Professional, he was recognized with awards and accolades throughout his 45 year career within the Oil and Gas Industry including founding member and past President of the Gulf Coast Safety and Training Group, ASSE Fellow and past President Gulf Coast and Permian Basin Chapter, Recognized as Permian Basin Safety Professional of the year in 1990-91. An expert in the field of Safety and Health, he was responsible for implementing Behavior Based Safety and Risk Assessment programs through his distinguished careers with TransOcean Oil, Mobil Oil, Occidental Petroleum and Producers Assistance Corporation.

He was an avid Photographer, Outdoorsman, Gardner, and influential in his extensive world travels.

A special thank you to his physicians, nurses and staff of the Conroe Regional Medical Center Hospital for the loving care provided to our husband and father. Donations in lieu of flowers may made to the New Hope Baptist Church "Restore the Steeple" fund at 3400 FM 2693, New Waverly, Texas 77358 or .

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 02 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM with a celebration of life service scheduled for Saturday at 10:00 AM at Metcalf Funeral Directors, located at 1801 East White Oak Terrace, Conroe, Texas 77304. A procession to New Hope Baptist Cemetery will follow.
