Sallie P. Hughes, of Conroe, Texas went to be with our Lord and Savior Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the young age of 79 after a hard-fought battle with multiple myeloma. She was born in Fisher County, Texas on August 3, 1933 to the late Jewel and Everest "Ebb" Wiley. She spent her childhood years in Levelland, Texas and graduated from Levelland High School, class of 1950 and was married to James Hughes for 61 years. Her life was dedicated to being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, along with being the secretary at Wedgwood Baptist Church and Oak Ridge Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, sewing, singing and spending time with family. She also loved researching family history as a member of The Genealogy Society for many years. She was a devoted Christian woman, who was actively involved at GracePoint Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents and son Fletcher Hughes. She is survived by her loving husband James Hughes and sister Peggy Wommack, of Georgetown, Texas. She is also survived by her three other children: Beverly and husband Carl Darnell, of Conroe, Texas; Janet Wright, of Arlington, Texas; and Blake Hughes, of Roanoke, Virginia. She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren: Josh Darnell, Stephan Darnell and fiancé, Cathy Casperson; Cimarron Hughes, Chance Wright, Rachel Wright, Nathaniel Hughes and wife Jennifer, Blaze Hughes and wife Becky, Anastasia Barner and husband Josh, Haniya Hughes, and Noelani Hughes. And also survived by great-grandchildren Taylor Colby and Bradoc Hughes, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be held at Conroe Funeral Directors on Monday, January 28, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 29, 2013 in The Chapel at Conroe Funeral Directors at 10:30 a.m. officiated by Brother Gary Ladd. Interment will follow in Garden Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Gracepoint Baptist Church Building Fund is greatly appreciated. The address is 6606 FM 1488 Magnolia, Texas, 77354.
