Sam Ladell Knowles has passed from this life to join his Lord Jesus on February 9, 2017. Sam was born July 21, 1927, in Baytown, Texas to Sam L. Knowles and Ada Opal Jones Knowles. He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife Marie, parents, Sam and Ada, his brothers and sisters, Joe, Herbert, Nora Faye, Mildred, and Ada Lou. He is survived by daughter's Sandra Stewart and husband Bob, Brenda Bevers and husband Jimmy. He had seven grandchildren, Sean Van Vactor, Tessa Van Vactor, Amanda Stewart, Beau Bevers, Adam Bevers, Matt Bevers, and Tim Bevers, and numerous great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Ginny Knowles, stepchildren Charles Abernathy and wife Jean, Sunny Everett and husband Grant, nephews Joe Holecek and Jody Knowles, niece Connie Knowles Hunter, and great-nephew Joe Holecek Jr., friends and neighbors Mr. and Mrs. Jim Martelon.

Sam lived his life in Conroe, Seguin, McQueeney, Hankamer, and Baytown, Texas. He served both in the U. S. Air Force and the U. S. Marine Corp, and retired from Mobay Corporation in Baytown, Texas in 1989.

After retiring Sam and his wife Marie moved to Seguin, and he continued his love of tennis, and was the Assistant Tennis Coach at Texas Lutheran College in 1994.

Sam was passionate about his family, politics, tennis, and his cat Cali, and inspired others with his kindness and quick wit.

The family's heartfelt thanks goes to Dr. James Bernick, and the kind caregivers at Cedar Bayou Rehab Center, Signature Select Services, Compassus, and All Heal.

We will miss you Grandpa, Daddy, Uncle, fine friend and patriot.
