Samuel J. Weeks, 88, of Conroe, Texas, passed away in his sleep December 12, 2013.

He was born in New Orleans, LA, on March 8, 1925 to the late Esther and Samuel Weeks. He graduated from Brother Martin High School, New Orleans, in 1941 and received a degree in engineering from California Polytechnic State University. He married Weezie Weeks on October 22, 1948.

As a boy Sam earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He also served as a naval aviator; retiring with the rank of Commander. Later in life Sam became a successful businessman in commercial shipping operations for several fruit and oil corporations. One of his favorite things to tell people was the story of how he had been dubbed "the Admiral of the Banana Navy".

Sam always maintained a strong faith and commitment to God and was a faithful practicing Catholic.

Sam is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Weezie, five children: Susan Weeks, Richard Weeks, and Robert Weeks, all of New Orleans, LA; Robin Weeks Chapman of Kingwood, TX; and Nancy Weeks Sizemore of Evans, GA; six grandchildren: Jaclyn Weeks Dabdoub, Jennifer Weeks Chapman, Christopher Weeks Chapman, Amanda Weeks Chapman, Caroline Adams Pitts, and Samuel James Sizemore; one great-grandchild Madlyn Daboub; a brother, John Weeks, and a sister, Eleanore Weeks Tinto.

A visitation will be held at Metcalf Funeral Home at 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, December 16. The funeral mass will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 17.
