She graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1957 and attended the University of Tulsa. Sandy was a Tulsa University Varsity Cheerleader and a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority.

During her time at Tulsa University, Sandy met her husband, Francis Boyd "Bud" Hamilton. They were married on September 2, 1961 and shortly thereafter moved to Houston. Sandy enjoyed cooking, writing and creating many types of arts and crafts. She loved to entertain and spend time with her friends and family. She enjoyed volunteering throughout the years and especially at Montgomery United Methodist Church. She and Bud took over 20 cruises and traveled around the world. One of her favorite pastimes was cheering on her grandkids at their many activities.
