SARA LYNN MASSEY of Willis, Texas left this earth to be present with her Lord, Jesus Christ on August 24, 2011. She was born on August 9, 1939 to Pauline and Jewel Massey in Chanute, Kansas, where she lived for her first 11 years. Her family moved to Emporia, Kansas in 1950 where she lived until she was married in 1958 to Bobby Dean Grundy. They were married for nine years and divorced in 1967. She raised two children in Houston, Texas and settled in Willis, Texas in 1996.

Sara is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Warren and Mary Massey of Kansas City, Kansas; her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Joyce Grundy of Little Rock, Arkansas and her daughter and son-in-law, Leslie and Steven Whitehead of Montgomery, Texas. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Lauren Elise Whitehead, Kaitlin Elizabeth Whitehead, Madison Lee Whitehead, Heidi Noel Grundy and Alaina Marie Grundy; also three nieces, Jan Duncan, Marcia Cline, Elizabeth Massey and their families; and her good friend, Iris Smith.

Sara will always be remembered as a devoted grandmother, mother, and daughter and a generous and compassionate human being. Her family would like to give special thanks to the doctors, nurses and caregivers at Odyssey House, Conroe. The family requests that memorials be made in the form of donations to Odyssey Hospice Foundation at 233 Interstate 45 North, Conroe, Texas 77304-2307.

A private family memorial will be held and burial will take place at a later date in Chanute, Kansas.
