Sheila Deegan, 73, lost her battle with cancer on Dec. 20, 2014. She was a longtime resident of Oak Ridge North and employee of CISD. Sheila was the very much loved, only child of Hamilton Paterson and Margaret McIlwraith. The family migrated to the American heartland from Glasgow, Scotland when she was just a little girl. Sheila spent a few years in Ohio but spent the majority of her youth growing up in southern California. Upon graduation, Sheila became a flight attendant for American Airlines where she fulfilled her love for travel while getting to meet and help people. Sheila gave up her career as a stewardess when she met and married Bob Deegan. They moved to Texas and were blessed with two sons, Scott and Larry.

Upon her mother's passing, Sheila moved back to California to join her father living in San Francisco. Together they purchased a home in Rossmoor, CA where they lived happily together for about five years, before her father died. Sheila settled in to become an outstanding resident of Rossmoor, making many wonderful friends. One of her greatest joys while living in Rossmoor was her role as volunteer, for the Excursion Desk. Sheila was a travel guide for residents on day trips as well as trips abroad. Her independent, warm spirit enriched the lives of those who knew her. When Sheila became sick with cancer she never lost her optimism and continued her activities as long as she could. Her many loving friends gave her their support and meant so much to her. Sheila's family and friends will greatly miss her infectious laughter and beautiful smile. A lovely lady, now gone to her rest.

Sheila is survived by her son, Larry Deegan, daughter in-law Emily, and grandchildren Lainey, Alex, Abbey, and Sam. She joins her son Scott, mother Margaret, and father Hamilton in heaven. She will be missed.............
