Funeral Services for Shelia Ann Friend of Conroe, Texas will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Grangerland Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Vineyard officiating. Interment will follow in Dry Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Conroe Funeral Directors on Friday, August 19, 2016 from 4:00 P.M until 8:00 P.M.

Mrs. Friend was born on August 27, 1948 in Oklahoma and passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 in Conroe. Shelia was 67 years old at the time of her passing.

Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing love and faith. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling, laughter, and love will never be forgotten.

Shelia was a true woman of faith and the heart of the Friend family. She shaped their spirituality by her loving Christian example. She also held various bible-study prayer groups for adults and vacation bible activities for the children to help spread her joy for the Lord. Shelia was a longtime member of Grangerland Baptist Church. She had a real zest for life, she definitely walked the walk. Through her life she was a loving daughter, sister, beloved wife and mother, grandmother and friend to many. Shelia is dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmie and Judy Jarman; her beloved husband, David Friend; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Norma and Edward Friend; and her sister, Patricia Jarman. Shelia is survived by her loving family: Daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Chris Brodie; Son and daughter-in-law, James "Jimmy" and Kristin Friend; Grandchildren, Aaron Brodie, Joshua Brodie, Angelle Brodie, Cain Hamilton and Damion Frizzell; numerous other dear relatives and caring friends also survive.
