Funeral services for Shirley Jean Slott will be held Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 10:00am in Cashner Colonial Chapel with burial following in El Minah Cemetery in New Waverly, TX. Visitation will be held Friday, June 28, 2013 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm with a Rosary being held at 7:00pm. Shirley was born February 20, 1935 in Wharton, Texas to Milton and Erna Girndt and entered into rest on June 26, 2013 in Conroe, Texas. Shirley was a very caring and nurturing person. She had a tremendous love for children which she displayed in making her "neighborhood children" Easter baskets, handing out candy, or fixing them a quick snack when they would come over to visit. Her hospitality made it easy to understand why the neighborhood children would come to see her and continued to visit, even after they had become adults. Shirley had a genuine heart and was a very loving person to all of those who came to know her. She will truly be missed and her memories will always fill our hearts. Shirley was reunited in Heaven with her parents, Milton Girndt and Erna Koepke-Girndt and her loving husband, Lawrence "Buddy" Slott. She is survived by her only daughter, Linda St. Clair and husband Bobby of Galveston; nieces, Jennifer Hudson and her children, Lauren and Kyle, of The Woodlands and Paulette Carr and husband Bryan of New Waverly; sister-in-law, Mary Frances Hightower and husband Buck; sister-in-law, Ann Slott and brother-in-law, Eddie Quinters. Numerous other relatives and friends also survive. The family would like to give a special thank you to Shirley's caregiver, Sheryle Ellisor and her family for all of their help in providing such outstanding care to Shirley.
