On February 12, 1937, Stanley R. Belvin was born in Acme, New Mexico to Mr. Doyle Belvin and Mrs. Ruby Griffin-Belvin. The oldest of seven children, Stanley joined the Unites States Army Reserves in 1958 and retired from military service in 1988 as a Lieutenant Colonel, graduating with honors from the Officer's Candidate School. In 1967, Stanley joined the Conoco/DuPont Company as a corporate pilot, a position he held for 30 years, retiring in 1997. He was a charter member of the Quiet Birdman, a member of the AOPA since 1964, and a member of the Walden on Lake Conroe Golf Club and USGA. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #618 for 29 years. Stanley's numerous accomplishments in life were inspired only by the immeasurable love he had for his family and friends. LTC Stanley R. Belvin passed away on September 5, 2011 in Conroe, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Eunice Messenger Belvin, his brother, Jimmy Belvin, his sister, Sharon B Smith, and his step-son Jimmy Dale Messenger. Stanley is survived by his children, Valerie Simmons and Sean Belvin; daughter-in-laws Audrey Belvin and Sue Messenger; son-in-law, Randy Simmons; grandchildren, Ella and Kate Belvin, Gary Simmons & Jim Messenger; brothers, William and Richard Belvin; sisters, Wanda Johnson and Peggy Gordon; great grandchildren, Brennan Simmons, Dalton and Melissa Messenger. Numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws and a host of friends also survive. Graveside services for LTC Stanley R. Belvin will be held Saturday September 10, 2011 at 3:00 pm in Garden Park Cemetery. Hot summer, casual dress is preferred. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in his name to the .
