Funeral services for Susan "Susie" Amanda Retzlaff Schmidt of Conroe, Texas will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. in The Chapel at Conroe Funeral Directors. The viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. She will be laid to rest at Houston National Cemetery at a later date. Mrs. Schmidt was born on October 25, 1947 in Clintonville, Wisconsin and went to be with her Lord on March 17, 2012 in Conroe, Texas. Susan was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and faithful friend who had a positive influence on everyone's life she touched. From volunteering at benefits to caring for her family, she had a passion for others that was evident to all who knew her. Susan enjoyed the outdoors which usually meant spending hours crabbing, swimming, fishing and gardening with her family. Some of her favorite past times were playing cards, board games, crossword puzzles, dominos and especially, crocheting. Susie was very good at crocheting, an art that she passed down to both daughters. Susie was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence G. and Elenor Lydia Francis Retzlaff, her brother, Clarence "Bud" Retzlaff, her sister, Marlene Rusch and her brother-in-law, James Medlock. She is survived by her loving family: her beloved husband of 41 years, Charles F. Schmidt; daughters, Teresa Kelley and Thomas, and Esta Schmidt and John Adams; sisters, Jaqueline Medlock, Karen Schmidt and Archie, Donna Wegner and Gary and Diane Chaltry; grandchildren, Thomas "Bubba" Kelley, Tanner Kelley and Tristan Kelley; aunts, Elenora Herms, Delilah Seehafer and Manda Hokenstad. Susan is also survived by her extended family; Robert and Lois Schmidt, Kenneth and Linda Schmidt, William and Irene Schmidt, Ester and James Ingle, Linda and John Presswood, foster grandchild, Autum Cossell and her sweet puppy, Angel. Many other dear nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends also survive. Susan was a strong, beautiful woman who's memory will be carried on in the hearts of her family and friends. We love you and will miss you very much. You are finally at peace and with the Lord.
