Theresa Jean Steed, age 82, of Conroe, Texas went home to the Lord on Friday, March 28, 2014. She passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving family. Theresa was born in Grapeland, Texas on March 10, 1932.

Theresa married Jarvis Lacy Steed, of Kennard, Texas on July 8, 1950.

Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, Robert L. and Eula Bell Holliday, and parents Robert and Alma Denson Bobbitt; brothers and sisters Robert L. Holliday Jr., Billy W. Holliday, Elmo A. Holliday, Bobby E. Holliday, Robert "Buddy" Bobbitt, Merle Bobbitt, Iona Bobbitt Heath and Beulah Mae Bobbitt Mahaley.

Theresa is survived by her loving husband, Lacy Steed of 64 years, and her three loving daughters. Judy Steed and husband Mike Somers of Nashville, TN, Pamela Steed Palermo of The Woodlands, TX, and Kim Steed and husband Monte West of Montgomery, TX.

Theresa has 8 Grandchildren. Kristin and husband Kevin Montgomery of Nashville, TN, Kip Somers of Conroe, TX, Kandace and husband Bradley Malone of Chattanooga, TN, Lauren Wiesner and Todd Blackmon of Conroe, TX, Falon and husband Chad Jones of Dallas, TX, Lacy and husband Brent Fischer of New Braunfels, TX, Megan and husband Wade Stultz, of Montgomery, TX and M. Ryan West also of Montgomery, TX.

Theresa has 9 Great Grandchildren. Kelsey and Kody Montgomery, Kennedy Malone, Saige Wiesner, Nicolas Hunter, Olivia Jones, Gage and Casen Fischer and Adalyn Stultz.

Theresa was lovingly cared for by her two special friends, Chandra Jackson and Samechee (Mimi) Taylor.

Theresa graduated from GrapelandHigh School. She attended the Southern College of Fine Arts in Houston, TX, graduating in 1955, with a Bachelor Degree in Music Education. Theresa taught public school and music education in Rosenberg, Sonora, Houston, and Conroe, TX. Theresa was a member of the Eastern Star, Chapter Dee Ora No. 715 of Sonora, TX, 50 Years plus.

Theresa was active in the Democratic Party and multiple grassroots committees, receiving recognition and appreciation for her extraordinary leadership, vision and generosity. Theresa was invited to two Presidential inaugural balls.

Theresa was recognized as a Life Fellow in the International Biographical Association of Cambridge, England. She also received a Master Diploma for specialty honors in education given by The World Academy of Letters in the United States.

Theresa will be remembered by many for her vivacious personality, effortless elegance and beauty, love for teaching, strong religious convictions, and her devotion to all of her family.

Visitation for Theresa will be held Sunday March 30, 2014 from 4 to 6 pm at Metcalf Funeral Directors in Conroe with a memorial service on Monday March 31, 2014 at 11 am at the Funeral Home.
