Theta Ann Watt Jackson of Houston died on January 27, 2017, at Silverado-Cypresswood Memory Care Community. Born October 31, 1933 in Beaumont, TX, Theta was an educator, volunteer and homemaker. She graduated from Lamar University in 1955 where she obtained a Bachelors of Science in Education and Home Economics. Theta taught several years in Beaumont ISD during the late 50's and early 60's.

On Valentine's Day, 1959, she became engaged to Bob Jackson, whom she married on August 14, 1959, and the couple remained not only married but also best friends for 57 years. Over the years, Theta and Bob were faithful members of the First United Methodist Churches of Beaumont, Springfield, IL and Conroe, TX. Theta served as a volunteer at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, St. John's Hospital in Springfield, and with The Assistance League in Conroe. As a supporter of the fine arts, she frequently underwrote the Conroe Symphony's annual Patriotic Concert. Her interests included: hosting dinner parties, traveling with friends, loving her Shelties, reading, playing bridge, sewing clothes, making table decorations and staying informed on political issues. In 1998 she became fondly known as "Grandmommy". In more recent years you could usually find Theta dancing to any music she heard.

Theta was preceded in death by her parents, John David and Theta May Watt, and by her brother, John Edgar Watt. She is survived by husband Bob Jackson of Houston; Son Robert Jackson, Jr. (Mary Ann) and Grandchildren Trenton and Amy Jackson of Cypress, TX; Sister Betty Pratt (Roy) of Port Neches, TX; Sister-in-Laws Sally Purcell of Shenandoah, TX and Helen Ward of Portland, TX; and Brother-in-Law Woodrow Jackson (Jean) of California; as well many nieces, nephews and life-time friends.
