A memorial service for lifelong resident of Conroe, Thomas Madeley Hoke, 76, of Conroe, Texas will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 11:30 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Conroe with the Rev. Jerry Neff officiating. There will be a private burial preceding the memorial service. Mr. Hoke was born on May 18, 1935 in Conroe, Texas to Samuel and Darl Hoke. He passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at his ranch in Conroe where he was born and raised. He and his wife, Virginia made the ranch their home for over 30 years. While attending Sam Houston State University, Mr. Hoke joined the US Army Reserves and obtained the rank of PFC. He later went on to graduate from SHSU with a teaching degree. Mr. Hoke had a successful and gratifying career as an educator for over 36 years. His educational career included 22 years teaching metal shop in the Houston schools and then later teaching homebound students in the Special Education department with CISD for 14 years. In between teaching he was employed as an inspector with KIMCO from 1979-1985. Mr. Hoke was an active member of the Masonic Lodge 748 A.F.A.M. here in Conroe and received his 50 year pin. He and his family are longtime members of the First United Methodist Church in Conroe where he served as Secretary/Treasurer and was a teacher for his Sunday school "Methodist Men's Class". Mr. Hoke was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Darl Hoke and sister Lynn. He is survived by his loving family: wife of 54 years, Virginia "Honey" Hoke; Daughter and son-in-law, Darlice and John Bridwell; Son and daughter-in-law, David and Michelle Hoke; Sister, Eulice Hoke Vial and Niece, Laurie Vial Amsler and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joe and Estelle Shook. He is also survived by his dear grandchildren, Sarah and Sam Hoke, as well as, many other relatives and friends. Honorary Pallbearers: John Bridwell, Joe Shook, Ivan Madeley, Hulon Madeley, Carl Madeley, Mike Smith, Robert Taylor, The Conroe Masonic Lodge 748 A.F.A.M. and members of the Methodist Men's Class of FUMC. Those who knew Mr. Hoke were aware of his direct approach to life and often enjoyed his humorous stories. Mr. Hoke was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather who loved life and people. He will be dearly missed.
