Burial will be Friday, December 6, 2013 at 1:00pm at Bluffton Cemetery. Travis was born September 27, 1946 in the height of a flooding rainstorm in San Antonio, Texas. This would set the stage for his life of opposing life events-many happy, many sad, converging within his life simultaneously. Travis was raised in a loving home provided by his mother, Lula and wonderful father, George Schurz. He had one younger brother, Ron, whom he loved to tease as only a big brother could. He was married to wife, Patty. Together they had a son, Richard and a daughter, Kristin who were both the pride and joy of his life. Three grandchildren came into the picture in the last few years, Korbin, Riley and Cooper. He was anxious to share his tales of Texas with this new generation of Proud Texans. While life was not always for Travis, it was filled with wonderful moments and activities. He took great pride in working as a Boy Scout leader for Troop #907. He loved participating in the camp outs, regaling the boys with tales of early Texas, of hunting for Wayne Doodle Snipes and teaching them the tricks of "roughing it" in the wilderness. He never met a stranger as he spoke with everyone he came into contact with. Mind you, this was more than the usual polite casual conversations; he truly wanted to know who they were and where they came from. Family and family history was an important element in his life. He could tell you more history of early Texas than you probably thought existed. He spent endless hours researching his family history, ensuring no stone was left unturned. Travis lived a good life, a hard life, a godly life and it was sadly and it was cut way to short for the rest of us.

Thanks for the memories, Travis.
