Mrs. Vaudine Alice Birmingham Woodward, age 96, went to be with our Lord on January 16, 2014. Born April 29, 1917 in Dodge, Texas to William Milton Birmingham and Ella Missouri Cooksey Birmingham. Vaudine was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Young Woodward, five sisters and one brother.

Vaudine was raised and educated in Huntsville, TX. She moved to Houston to attend Lillie Jolley School of Nursing. She graduated in 1937, and found her calling as an RN in the nursery at the original Memorial Baptist Hospital in downtown Houston. After taking courses at the Charity Hospital in New Orleans to become a Neonatal Specialist, she became Head Nurse at the downtown Memorial Hospital. Vaudine retired from NW Memorial Hospital in 1983.

After retirement, Vaudine moved to Conroe, joined the United Methodist Church, and traveled the world with her new church friends. Vaudine was also blessed to be able to take many trips with her family. She was an avid fisherman and loved to put her cane pole in any water hole.

Vaudine is survived by her three children, Dana Little and Dr. Tom Little of Conroe, Daniel Woodward and Betty Woodward of Fairview, Texas, and Alice Elliott and Dale Elliott of Houston, with two grandsons, Wayne Little and Tom Little, Jr both of Conroe and four great-grandchildren. Numerous dear nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
