Vera was born and raised in Fayetteville, NC. She worked for many years as a switchboard operator at the Fort Bragg Main Post Telephone Exchange where she ultimately became Switchboard Supervisor. It is here that she met the love of her life, John, and retired to raise their children. Vera was a long-time member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fayetteville where she was an active member in the choir, and the Women's Sodality.

In September 2006, after a brief illness, Vera moved to Montgomery with John, Sherri, and their family. She brought with her the passion for life, cooking and music, as well as, her love of pulled-pork barbecue. The tradition for its' preparation has now been passed to future generations. She became a member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Plantersville where she joined the choir, and was warmly embraced by all of the parishioners. Lady "V", as she became known to her East Coast extended family, will be missed by all of us.

Kelly on Friday, September 7, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside services will immediately follow in the church cemetery.
