Veronica V. Butler, 89, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on September 22, 2012. Ronnie was born in Astoria, New York on June 24, 1923 and moved to Bayside, Long Island, New York at age 16. She resided there until marrying the love of her life, Tom. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Tom; her son, Tom Jr. and her grandson, Nicolas Bartoli. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Cathy Butler, daughter, Roni Sewell (Jerry); son, David; daughter, Mary Anne Barrilleaux (Barry); daughter, Vicky Burg (John); son, Chris (Erin); 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Throughout her life Ronnie and Tom lived in many different parts of the U.S. and successfully raised 6 children, making a happy home wherever they lived. She was an involved mother in all of the children's schooling and extra-curricular activities.

She graduated from the University of Houston in 1978 with a B.S. degree in Psychology and remained a "U of H Cougar" at heart throughout her life. After raising her family she went on to have a successful career in the insurance industry.

Upon retirement she was active in the April Sound Ladies Association and its various clubs. She was a volunteer for the St. Vincent de Paul Society and a Eucharistic Minister at Sacred Heart Catholic Church while remaining a devout Catholic throughout her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Conroe, Texas.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 26, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Metcalf Funeral Home, Conroe, Texas with a rosary beginning at 7 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, September 27, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 109 N. Frazier, Conroe, Texas. Interment will follow at Houston National Cemetery, Houston, Texas.
