W.G.(Gene) Seward of Dover Ark passed away on May 17, 2016. Gene was born on March 21,1932 to W.K.and Mildred Seward in Liberty Hill Texas. He grew up in Willis, Leander and Liberty Hill Tx. After high school graduation in 1949, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving during the Korean war. After his military service, he came to Willis to work for his uncle Johnny Muller at L&M Lumber co. Throughout the 50s and early 60s, Gene held a number of law enforcement positions in Montgomery Co. including Deputy Sherriff,Willis City Marshall, Willis Fire Marshall,Sergeant Conroe P.D.Conroe P.D. I.D. officer. He started repairing guns in the mid 50s and was a well respected gunsmith for many years. Beginning in the late 60s, he volunteered with Dr, Wally Wilkerson to help grow the Montgomery County Republican Party and held various leadership positions throughout the years. Over 20 years he was part owner/manager/gunsmith at Conroe Jewelery and loan. In the early 90s he moved back to Liberty Hill Tx. with his wife Bonnie to care for his parents who preceded him in death. They eventually moved to Dover Ark to retire. He is survived by his wife Bonnie J. Seward of Dover Ark., His 4 children Michelle Seward Davis(Ben) of San Antonio, Angela Seward Hayes and son Jack Hayes of Sugarland Tx, Steven S Seward(Brenda) of Centerville Tx,Willian C. Seward(Terry) of Bastrop Tx. Stepson Keith Hacker(Vetta) and step-daughter Elaine Thompson(Gary) Both of the Russelville Ark. area. W.G. will be remembered fondly by many friends and relatives throughout Texas and Arkansas.
