William "Bill" McVicar

William "Bill" McVicar, age 91, passed away April 29, 2015 after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's. He was born in New Jersey on November 11, 1923. Bill was a proud Army Air Corp veteran who served in WWII while stationed in Hawaii. Bill and his young family moved to Houston in the early 1950's and Bill became an honored Houston Police Officer graduating from the HPD's 7 th class. He also worked for the City of Houston as a bus driver, and then for HISD as a school bus driver. He loved to travel and enjoyed music of all kinds and tennis. He was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in New Waverly for 14 years.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Una May "Kitty" McVicar of 47 years; children Dennis McVicar, Pamela McVicar, and Randy McVicar; and sister Helen McVicar. Bill is survived by his son Greg McVicar; and brother Thomas McVicar Sr.

After a blind date in August of 1993, he married his sweetheart Leona Konieczny in February of 1994 and inherited 3 more daughters and 4 more sons. With these 2 families, he left a legacy of numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Bill lived a long, happy, and mostly healthy life. Bill touched many lives and his sense of humor and beautiful smile will be missed by all who loved and knew him.

A Memorial Service will be held in Bill's honor on Sunday, May 3 with visitation from 2-3 PM and service following at 3 PM at the Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Willis. Condolences may be left at www.shmfh.com .
