William "Bill" Rivera, age 75 died peacefully on April 30, 2016 in Conroe, TX, surrounded by family and friends.

Bill was born in Aibonito, Puerto Rico on October, 12, 1940 to Guillermo and Gloria Rivera. His parents moved him and his 2 brothers and 2 sisters to New York City in 1950, where he graduated from high school.

Bill proudly served in the US Marines for 9 years following high school graduation. He served in many areas, including Vietnam, aircraft carriers and the Embassy in the Philippines, where he learned, to fly. Bill was employed as a pilot for the rest of his career. In 1975 he accepted his first corporate pilot job with Natural Gas Pipeline. He remained with the company as it evolved into Midcon, and Occidental Petroleum until he retired in 1995.

He then was a flight instructor at Flight Safety International for 3 years at Hobby Airport. Bill enjoyed travelling all over the world.

He and his wife Angela of 34 years married in 1982 and lived in Conroe until 2005 when they fulfilled one of their "bucket list" items and moved to the beach town, Rockport, TX. While in Rockport, Bill was active in his church, St. Peter's Episcopal Church. He volunteered at Castaways, Good Samaritans and Community Of Hope. He served as president of the Rockport Lions Club and was a member of Aransas County Independent School District School Board.

He and Angela moved back to Conroe in 2012. Bill was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a role model of character and strength, as well as a devout Christian man. Bill brought joy to all his activities and was a true gentleman.

Bill is survived by his wife Angela, sons, Sean Rivera and wife Robbyn of San Diego, CA, and John Edwards of Conroe, TX. Grandchildren include, Cameron, Mollison and Evynn Rivera of San Diego, CA, and John Howell Edwards and wife Ashley stationed at Mildenhall AFB in Suffolk, UK.

Bill is also survived by 2 sisters, Aurea Guttierez and Awilda and husband Paco Rivera in Puerto Rico.

One memorial services will be held Saturday, May 14, 2016, at 10:00AM at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe, TX, with Father Jim Friedel and Rev. Beverly Bammel officiating. Another will be held at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Rockport, TX, on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 10:00AM with Father Jim Friedel officiating, where inurnment will occur.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Nicole Wilson and the caregivers at Compassionate Care in Conroe, TX. Memorial contributions may be made to the building fund- St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 412 N. Live Oak St, Rockport, TX 78382.
