Willie Mae Taylor Harbin was born on September 5, 1921 in the precinct called Honea, Montgomery County, TX. Willie Mae Taylor Harbin spent her later years living very close to her birthplace in her parents' home on McCaleb Rd. Montgomery County, TX. She and her late husband, Herbert Harbin, Sr. had built a home next door to her mother, Mrs. Emma Smith Taylor, but she had moved into the older home so her son, Clifford Harbin, could live next to her in her later years. Willie Mae or Billie, graduated from Montgomery High School in 1939 where she met her future husband. They married on Nov. 6, 1945 after he returned from World War II. They lived in Houston for almost 30 years then retired to the Conroe/Montgomery area to be near her aging mother. Billie and Herbert then joined the Honea Baptist Church, a church her parents helped to charter. Billie worked for various freight lines during her career including Red Arrow, Roadway and Central Freight in Houston and Conroe retiring at age 80!
