The Lord has claimed another for his own. Yvonne Elizabeth Lawson, age 87. Born January 3, 1926 in Sabine Parish Louisiana to John Duren and Nellie Holloway, passed on September 9th, 2013 at her home in Conroe Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers; Arnold Duren, Clyde Duren and Buford Duren, her sister Johnnie Covey, and her beloved husband Kenneth to whom she was married for 40 years. During her professional life, Yvonne worked as a registered nurse for nearly 45 years. In this time, she witnessed thousands of births and said that she considered it a privilege and blessing to share with each family, the joy of seeing new life come into the world. Yvonne was an active member of Grace Point Fellowship Baptist Church. She loved the Lord, and knew that in all situations, God's grace was sufficient. She sought to live a quiet, peaceful life in service to others. She loved to entertain family and friends and when she cooked a meal you could taste the love that was in whatever she made. The world was a better place because of the life she lived. She is survived by her sons and daughter in laws Greg,(Vicki) Lawson of Conroe Texas and Geoff (Janet) Lawson of Austin Texas. Grandchildren; Scott Lawson, Mindy Hobbs, Zoe Lawson and Sarah Lawson. Nephews; Michael and Mark Covey, Nieces; Robin Leal, Denah Lynn Duren, Deborah Sue Burroughs, Regina Ruth Duren along with numerous cousins and other family members and friends. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 12, 20132 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Cashner Funeral Home, Conroe, Texas. Rev. Gary Ladd will preside over funeral services being held Friday, September 13, 2012 10:00am at Cashner Funeral Home Conroe, Texas, with interment to follow at 2pm the Houston National Cemetery located at 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr Houston, TX 77038. The family asks that in lieu of flowers; please consider making a donation to a church or an organization that benefit those in need.
