Marlin Jay Hostetler of Willis, Texas died March 7, 2015 at St. Lukes Hospital in the Woodlands, Texas at the age of 72. Marlin was born December 29, 1942 in Milford, Nebraska to Eldon and Mertice (Riley) Hostetler, the first of six children. Marlin was united in marriage to Barbara J. Crisman on March 29, 1963 and to this union, four children, Gregory, Grant, Kristine and Kimberly.
Marlin worked for Safeway in Lincoln, Nebraska and later transferred to Oklahoma, then Texas where he made his home for the last 30 years. Marlin enjoyed many activities including softball, bowling and golf. Marlin's greatest joy was his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He loved family gatherings and keeping his children and grandchildren as close as possible.
Marlin was a member of the Milford Mennonite Church and later the First United Methodist Church of Willis, Texas. Survivors include his wife Barbara Hostetler; children Gregory and Yibrani Hostetler of Enid, OK, Grant Hostetler of Conroe, TX, Kristine and Louis Sedita Jr of Conroe, TX, and Kimberly and Ricky Bell of Edgewood, TX; grandchildren, John and Katrina Charter, Jesse Hostetler, Christopher and Ashton Sedita, Cody Hostetler, Ashley and Barry Foster, Sadie Hostetler, Candice and Eric Smith, Blake and Jessica Sedita, Jayson Hostetler, Jake Hostetler, Helen Hostetler, Cathleen Bell, Trintan Hostetler, Jenny Hostetler, Spencer Bell, Lalo Hostetler, Leo Hostetler, and Payzlea Bell; great-grandchildren, Christopher Gregory, Kristina Bently, Maddie Jo, Shawn, Hallie, Dalton, Hunter, Christian, Louie, Ethan, Drake, Marlin, Faith, Taylor and Maddison; sister and brothers (Mrs. Ted) Terry Hostetler, Ron and Sherry Hostetler, Bonnie and Clark Rediger, Tom and Robin Hostetler, Doyle and Deb Hostetler; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of others relatives and friends. Marlin was preceded in death by his parents Eldon (1975) and Mertice (2005), brother Ted and grandparents.
Visitation with the family is scheduled for Monday, March 9 from 6-8 PM at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Willis. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, March 10 at 2 PM in the Chapel at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Willis with burial following at Smith Memorial Park Cemetery. HOSTETLER FAMILY, I'm so sorry for your loss. I remember the day Mr. Hostetler became manager for the Conroe Safeway. He was very nice to me and I never forgot him.
