Monica (my grandmother) is a noticeably connective being.
This quote from my brother Patrick, is true, "She was very much a thoughtful person that way, delicate in how she filtered information and how she chose her words."

I think of Grandma at least a few times a week, even more often as Easter approaches. If it isn't a particular memory that comes to mind, it's her sense of humor, her love of reading, her dedicated cooking, or her gentle smile. I think about how she spoke directly to her pets, both domestic and feral. She was very much a thoughtful person that way, delicate in how she filtered information and how she chose her words.
My grandmother, Monica was likewise an abstract thinker who was sometimes misunderstood by those around her, not that this quality set her apart. It only made her delightfully enigmatic. Whenever she turned quiet during a gab session post-brunch, I would sit on the stairs and privately wait for her to contribute to the group, even when I was little because she had this rare glint about her, this glint that drew toward her presence. And I feel fortunate that Monica has never left me. We are bound by the memories, the same as she is with all her loved ones.
