Merchantville - Passed away peacefully at his home in Merchantville on April 24, 2021. Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years Margaret (Zell) Metzler; He was a loving father to William "Billy" Metzler (Susan) and Jonathan Metzler (Leslie); Devoted and proud grandfather of Jonathan, Andrew and Joseph; Dear brother of Jeraldine (Harvey), Mary (Jerry), Anthony and Sabine (Dan); He is also survived by many loving nieces & nephews.

Bill happily and lovingly served his community throughout his life. His family, friends, and neighbors all knew they could count on Bill to help them with any task, big or small. He was a sailor in the Navy who proudly served his country aboard the USS Dupont during the Vietnam War. After retiring from a long career as a building equipment mechanic for Bell Atlantic Telecommunications, Bill could usually be found out in his yard where he enjoyed maintaining his gardens and his fish pond and spending time with his dear family and friends. In recent years, Bill also enjoyed serving the community through volunteering with the Niagara Fire Company and even working as a crossing guard for the children of Merchantville school.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Visitation on Friday, April 30, 2021 from 9-11 AM at the Falco, Caruso & Leonard Pennsauken Funeral Home, 6600 N. Browning Road, where a Memorial service will be held at 11 AM. Inurnment Lakeview Memorial Park in Cinnaminson.
