He was like a father to me if this the same Charles Rice who lived in Detroit in the 50´s I was a kid , he use to take me to his rehearsals at a club he use to play at. I have a lot of good memories of him , I wondered throughout the what ever happened to him.

Blessings,and comfort to charlies family. I knew charlie through his son in law Ronnie Coleman (rip) and came to love,and respect him,and also enjoy talking with him about his many exploits in this art form jazz.the last time i saw him,i gave him an old eddie l Iockjaw album,with charlie on drums.may God forgive him of any sin,and accept the good he has surely sent forth for his soul.we love you charlie,and will pray for you always,Rasheed Al Jawar a friend.
