Emmanuel Polydoros Chatzidakis

Emmanuel Chatzidakis was born in the port town of Piraeus in Athens Greece in 1920. His family roots are from the Greek Island of Crete in a small mountain town of Meronas. He had a difficult childhood including the loss of his mother at a young age.
He enlisted in the Greek/British Air Force during the 2nd World War as a navigator where achieved the rank of sergeant. During the war he traveled to South Africa Egypt and Palestine.
After completing his military duty he decided to leave Greece. He eventually landed in Caracas Venezuela. Once settled in Venezuela he married his childhood sweetheart Maria Fostira (of Blessed Memory) and started the next chapter of his life by starting a family. He started a completely new profession in sales and marketing. This environment and language was quite demanding so he supplemented his income with late night taxi driving to support his family.
His ambition for a better life took the Chatzidakis family to Montreal Canada and later finally to United States of America where they settled in Philadelphia PA. At this time he started his career as an automobile business professional which culminated in ownership of a very successful auto dealership in Cinnaminson New Jersey called Dakis Oldsmobile.
Emmanuel was a loving husband father grandfather and great grandfather. He was very proud of his four sons (Larry Evan Paul and Chris) and spoke of them often even to strangers. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grand children.
Although a private man he had a passion for life. He loved meeting new people dancing and traveling back to his beloved homeland of Greece.
Emmanuel was a unique man who touched many lives he truly will be missed

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Emmanuel's Life Celebration and viewing Wednesday starting 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church at 7004 Ridge Avenue Egg Harbor Twp. His Funeral Service will follow 11 a.m. Entombment Lakeview Mausoleum Cinnaminson NJ.
