Lawrence Kirschling Obituary

Age 92 died February 15 2003 at his home in Woolwich Twp. where he resided for the past 40 years. He was born and raised in Hibbing Minn. where he lived until he left for Duquesne Univ. in Pittsburgh PA.He attended the University on a full scholarship. After obtaining a Bachelor of Science Degree in the field of Biology he stayed on to coach football and scout for the team.
After leaving Duquesne he was an assistant coach and scout at Villanova and later scouted for several major league teams. His main objective was to earn a Master's Degree in Education which he did 1942.
He came to New Jersey to farm with a partner as a temporary occupation and never left.
He first resided in Runnemede later in Paulsboro where he taught at the high school and coached during the school year and farmed in the summer.
As his family grew they moved to a larger home in Gibbstown. Eventually he purchased several farms and settled in Woolwich. Later he developed some of his land for housing.
Mr. Kirschling served for many years on the Zoning Board of Adjustments and the Mosquito Commission. He also was a long time Democrat Committeeman.
He was a member of St. Joseph's RC Church in Swedesboro and the Knights of Columbus St. Francis Council.
He is survived by his dear wife Vera (nee Ryan); two daughters: Jeanne White (Bucky) of Turnersville and Veronica of Woolwich; five sons: Michael Lawrence (Elizabeth) of West Chester PA Dr. Patrick James (Kathleen) of Cherry Hill Dr. Thomas Joseph (Jane) of Marlton John Nicholas of Dallas TX and William Neil (Mary Beth) of West Deptford; a sister Antoinette Plesha of Hibbing MN and 7 grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday 11 AM at St. Joseph's RC Church Broad St. Swedesboro where friends may call from 10 AM. Interment St. Joseph's Cemetery Swedesboro. In lieu of flowers donations to Samaritan Hospice 5 Eves Dr. Suite 300 Marlton. Arrangementsruary. by DALEY FUNERAL HOME LIFE CELEBRATION STUDIO Swedesboro.
