Berlin - Robert Augustine Strano, a resident of Spring Oaks Assisted living in Berlin, NJ, passed away on August 7 at the age of 86 of Primary Progressive Aphasia. He was born on August 26, 1931 in Philadelphia, PA, the son of Salvatore and Mary (Aiello) Strano. Salvatore emigrated from Italy in 1905 with his parents and 4 siblings. Bob was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, Camden, NJ in 1948. He was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the Navy from 1950-1954 onboard USS Thuban (AKA -19). He retired from John Hancock in 1988. Bob enjoyed many hobbies over the years including carpentry, running Beagles, and most importantly the love of hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Katheen (Crane), daughter Michele Pagenkopf and her husband Andy, son Robert and his wife Mary (Suranofsky), stepdaughters Eve (Roberts) and Adam Marano, Dawn Roberts, and Laura Roberts and Paul Dawson. He was blessed with four grandchildren: Nathan, Bryn, Erin, and Nicole. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend a celebratory service on August 18, 2018 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hainesport, NJ at 11:00 AM. Visitations from 9:30-11 AM with a luncheon to follow immediately after the service.
