Obituary Condolences

PAWLAK, Dennis S. 57, of Point Pleasant, N.J., passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2011, at Hackensack University Medical Center. Mr. Pawlak was born in Camden and raised in Haddon Heights. He was a graduate of Haddon Heights High School and a linebacker on the football team, which was the 1970 N.J. Group II State Champions. He later earned an Associate's Degree from Camden County College. Mr. Pawlak was employed in Utility Construction for many years, as a member of Construction Laborers Union, Local 172, Trenton, until illness forced his retirement in 2010. For many years he coached his daughter's softball, and his sons' Point Pleasant Little League teams, making many friends along the way, and was fondly known as "Coach Denny." In addition, he earned a Coast Guard Captain's License, and was an avid boater and fisherman. With his family, he enjoyed going to the beach, whether it was at Strickland Avenue in Bay Head, or while on vacations in North Carolina, Hawaii, California, Aruba, or Florida. He was also an avid Jimmy Buffett "Parrothead," and Yankee fan, as evidenced by his beloved Shih-Tzu, "Jeter." Prior to settling in Point Pleasant in 1989, he had lived in Vineland for 10 years. Mr. Pawlak was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Leona (Serba) Pawlak. He is survived by his beloved wife, Trish (McCabe), whom he married in 1979, and his loving children, Erin, of NYC, and Matthew and Robert, of Point Pleasant. In addition, he is survived by his brother, Joe Pawlak, and his wife Judy, and his sister, Janice Bartels, and her husband Lee. He also leaves two brothers-in-law, Jim McCabe, and John McCabe and his wife Maria. He is also survived by his nephews, J.J. and Drew Pawlak, Brad Bartels, and Michael McCabe, his niece, Bridget McCabe, and his mother-in-law, Alice McCabe. Visitation will be at O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick, on Monday, January 10, 2011, from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Martha's Church, 3800 Herbertsville Road, Point Pleasant, on Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at 11 A.M. Those attending Mass should meet at Church.
