Damien Steel Obituary
Deptford - On September 28, 2018. Age 38. Of Deptford. Formerly of Mickleton. Loving son of Charles R. Steel and Helen Steel (nee Panagos). Beloved brother of Justin Steel (Stephanie) and Trevor Steel (Rheena). Cherished uncle of Talan, Giavanna and Asten. Also survived by many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
Damien attended Gloucester Catholic and graduated from Kingsway class of 1998. He was an avid sports fan.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation Friday, Oct. 5th from 9:30 to 10:45 AM at St. Mary's Church, 426 Monmouth St., Gloucester City. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Straight & Narrow, Inc., 508 Straight St., Paterson, NJ 07501. Please memo: Damien Steel.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Steel,
I want you to know that my fondest memory in little league baseball was my first at bat against Dame. When he came over to E.G. from Bellmawr. He threw hard and He threw a curvball. Who throws a curvball at 12 years old! Damien Steel did! It was a dribbler to short stop and I was thrown out at first of course. Man, it was the 1st time I was ever intimidated in little league. He was great and He was smart. I am saddened that I will never see him again. God- take care of my boy and introduce him to the greats like Ted Williams,Micky Mantle, and Roger Maris. That's who he belongs with. Damien was great!

To the Steel Family, I'm so very sorry to learn about Damien's passing. He sure was one heck of an athlete, and a pleasure to watch. I spoke at length with him at a basketball tournament he was referring in March of 2017. My thoughts and prayers go out to all who loved him.

There really are no words to express how I'm feeling about your passing. I always hoped that you would see your way through and fight off that demon that so heavily held onto your back. I always remember the talks we had and how much family meant to you. Your grandmother especially. I remember you bringing me chocolates that you and your grandmother had purchased at the local candy store. Your knowledge of sports always amazed me. You knew I went to church and you always asked me to pray for you. I could go on with the stories I share with Damien! Our chance meetings of late will be missed. Always brought a smile to my face. It's very early in the morning and just read Bill E. Cleary's Facebook obituary post. As soon as I read the "Steel" last name, it was a flag to check further, and to my disappointment, I discovered that Damien is your son. It hit me like a punch in the gut and noticed this sigh as my expression of sympathy.
