Alvin Tisby Obituary
Camden, NJ - Alvin L. Tisby, Sr., 77, of Camden, New Jersey, passed away on February 6, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.
Legacy
A loving, proud and hard working man, Alvin was devoted to his family. He was a man with a quick wit and loved to make his family laugh. Alvin was honest and always said what was on his mind. In his younger years, Alvin enjoyed shooting pool and when he had something on his mind, he enjoyed cutting the grass and working on cars. For years at the Christmas parties, he would dress up as Santa Claus for the children.
Born in Georgia, Alvin was a resident of Camden for over 70 years. He was a painting contractor and modernization specialist for the Housing Authority of the City of Camden.
Family
Beloved husband of 37 years to Carol (nee Galloway); devoted father of Brian Tisby, Larry Tisby, Alvin Tisby, Jr. Mary (Floyd Jr.) Caston, Zel Tisby, Alva (Kenneth) Bolden, Linda (James Fountain) Tisby and Lisa Tisby; loving grandfather of 24 and great grandfather of many; dear brother of the late Joel Tisby and Margaret (Charles) Slayton. Alvin is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and 2 sisters in law and 3 brothers in law.
Farewell Tribute
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Alvin's viewing on Tuesday, 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the McGuinness Funeral Home, 34 Hunter Street, Woodbury, NJ 08096, where the Funeral Ceremony will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment Woodbury Memorial Park, West Deptford, NJ.
