Elinor Jinks Obituary
Washington Twp. - Elinor E. Jinks (nee Edick), 94, of Washington Twp., NJ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March, 24, 2021.
Elinor grew up in Johnstown, NY which is where she met and married her loving husband Albert. They moved from Johnstown to Stratford which is where Elinor raised her family. She and Albert retired to Ormond Beach, Florida, then moved north to Fayetteville, PA before settling back in southern NJ to be close to their son and daughters.
Elinor graduated from Johnston High School (1944), attended Mount Holyoke College in MA, and graduated from Wheelock College in MA (1949). Elinor went on to obtain her master's degree in elementary education from Albany State Teachers College (1953). After graduating from Wheelock, Elinor taught elementary education at the Irving Street School in Johnstown. Once Elinor and Albert relocated to southern NJ, she went on to teach elementary education at St. Mary's Episcopal Day School in Haddon Heights, and then in Parkview School in the Stratford, NJ district where she spent the balance of her career before retiring.
Elinor enjoyed traveling, cooking, quilting, knitting, embroidery, needlepoint, and lunches with friends. She was a member in embroidery and needlepoint guilds, but her most favorite activities were reading and spending time with her family, both immediate and extended.
Elinor is survived by her son, David (Sherry) Jinks, as well as daughters Elizabeth (James) Geiger and Katharine (Michael) Schuck. Elinor is also survived by her grandchildren Kevin (Katelyn) Jinks, Kurt (Megan) Jinks, William Geiger, Sarah Geiger, Stefan Schuck, Collin Schuck, and great-grandchildren Zachary, Charlotte, Elinor, Rhys, Jaxon, and Aubrie.
Elinor will be laid to rest in a private ceremony in Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Elinor's memory can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Delaware Valley Chapter @ www.alz.org/delval/in-my-community-donate.asp.
