Phyllis, Leigh, and family,
Sorry to hear about your loss. I have not seen John for a number of years. However I have fond memories of his kindness. I’d show up unannounced at the house during a break from mowing the grass at John H Castle and he’d take time talk. I just wanted you to know I was thinking of you and your family.

I, too, had Mr. Shaw as a teacher, and interim Principal, at Dexter. He had the personality one wishes in all teachers...calm, caring, passionate about his life's work. My heart and prayers are with his family.

My husband and I thought so much of John. He was at almost every wrestling meet my son competed in. He truly loved kids, and was such an active person in our community. He always made me smile. He will be missed. We will keep you all in our prayers.

Mr. Shaw challenged every student that came into his classroom to be the best and to do their best. He was a kind teacher and treated everyone fairly. I had Mr. Shaw at Dexter back in the late 1960's and carried many of his "lessons" into my own classroom up here in Valpo. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family...

Phyllis and family, John was such a special person and a wonderful neighbor for 33yrs. We will miss his stories, seeing him mow, the proud face when talking about his family and the watermelons that would just appear on the front porch (that no one knew how the got there). He was such a treasure and we have been honored to have known him. Our sympathy to all. God Bless, Jay, Teresa and Family
