Irene Ruth Correnti, wife of the late Domonic "Red" Correnti, daughter of the late David and Dora (Sadowitz) Fialk, died peacefully at Jewish Senior Services on Feb. 23, 2014. During WW II and after she worked at G.E., and later worked in the china departments at Howlands and Gimbels in Bridgeport. She was a long time member of Congregation B'nai Israel and its Sisterhood. Irene married the love of her life, Domonic, and mastered the art of Italian cooking. Everyone loved her spaghetti gravy and meatballs and always looked forward to her cakes, cookies and pastries. Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law Melanie and Geoffrey Kooris, her grandson and his wife David and Jessica Kooris, her great granddaughter Michaela Kooris, and her brother Sidney Fialk. She was predeceased by her sisters Sophie Fialk, Rebecca Gold, Harriet Gross, Sadie Freeman and Bessye Leichtman and her brothers Ben Fialk and Nathan Fialk. Family was the center of her life, especially her grandson, David. Our family would like to express our thanks to the incredible care given to Irene by the staff at the Jewish Home. Services will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014 at 1:00 pm directly at B'nai Israel Cemetery on Kings Highway in Fairfield. Shiva will be held at the home of Melanie and Geoffrey Kooris on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.
