George Morris Obituary

Morris, George E.
George Ellwood Morris, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather died peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday March 31, 2015. God allowed him to die in his lifelong home of 74 years. He was born on April 24, 1940 to the late Ellwood and Catherine Morris. He attended Zion Lutheran School and graduated Central HS Bridgeport in 1957. He loved the sport of softball and as a young man played on several teams. Later he became a member of the Germania Schwaben Singing Society where he held several officer positions and for many years operated the Bingo program along with his wife. He also coached his sons for many years in The North End Little League, and served as a Deacon at both Zion Lutheran Church and Holy Cross Lutheran Church, and was also a active participant in all of his grandchildren's activities and milestones. He was the owner of "George's Farm Fresh Eggs" for many years and retired from United Parcel Service in 1998 after 23 years. A proud member of Teamster Local 191 and Loyal Order of Moose. George was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to all who knew him. If you needed it he would give it. Special thanks to Ct Hospice and Vitas Hospice nurses and caretakers and Swim across the Sound for the care and support these past weeks. Survivors include his beloved wife of 32 years Barbara Valentine Morris, daughter Ann Cote Tolster and husband James of Bridgeport, sons Timothy Morris and wife Marie of Stratford, Christopher Morris and wife Dollene of Inverness FL, Dean Valentine and wife Carey of VT, and Donald Valentine of Bridgeport. Also his beloved grandchildren; John, Catherine and David Cote, Brittany, Anthony and Victoria Morris, Ashley and Kylie Valentine, and Natasha and Joseph Valentine. Great-Grandchildren, Riley, Danica,and Mia. One sister Barbara Golub of Milford, niece Carol Legman of Cheshire, several cousins including special cousins Clint and Patty Ann Peterson and several sister in law and brother in laws. Friends are invited to attend the funeral service on Tuesday April 7 2015 at 10am directly from Holy Cross Lutheran Church 5995 Main St Trumbull. Burial will be at Park Cemetery Bridgeport. Friends may call Monday from 4 to 8pm in The LARSON FUNERAL HOME 2496 North Ave Bridgeport. Memorial donations may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church Trumbull or St Vincent's Swim Across the Sound 2800 Main St Bpt CT 06606.
