Myrtle Doris Light
Myrtle Doris Light, age 95, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2018 after a short illness. She was born in New Britain on January 8, 1923 to the late Gustav and Natalie (Bilitz) Light, she spent most of her life in Bridgeport, and graduated from Central High School in 1941. She retired at age 69, from the Bridgeport Housing Authority. She loved to knit and crochet for family and friends. She enjoyed bowling and playing Canesta with the "girls," she could never pass by a cookbook to add to her collection. She was an active member of the Ladies Aid (LWML), and served on the Altar Guild for many years, at her home church Zion Lutheran in Bridgeport. She was a beloved sister, aunt to 18 nieces and nephews, and great-aunt to many. She is survived by her sisters, Evelyn Light, of Trumbull, and Shirley Langhammer, of TN. She was predeceased by sisters, Eleanore Farrell, Ruth Light and Mildred Hidu, nieces Donna Farrell and Carol Crooks. A special Thanks to nieces Dee, Pat and Sharon for their loving care during her last days. A private graveside service will be held in Park Cemetery in Bridgeport, with the Rev. Eric Wismare, pastor of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Trumbull officiating. Donations may be made in her memory to the church or to a charity of one's choice.
