George Lesnick Obituary

LESNICK George Andrew Lesnick, age 81, a retired Lieutenant for the Fairfield Police Department, beloved husband of Elfriede Barrett Lesnick, of Henderson, NV, formerly of Fairfield, passed away on January 31, 2010. The son of the late Andrew and Barbara Novak Lesnick, George grew up in Fairfield, graduating from Roger Ludlow High School in 1947, and served in the United States Army, 82nd Airborne during the Korean War. George became a Fairfield Police officer in 1956. He was proud of his 29 year career on the police force, and was recognized for numerous accomplishments, retiring as a Lieutenant. He moved to Henderson, Nevada in 1992, where he worked as a security officer for Debbie Reynolds and joined the Screen Actors Guild of America, appearing in several movies, television shows, and commercials. He was a member of the Fairfield Police Benevolent Association, American Legion, Knights of Columbus, and the Law Enforcement Association of Nevada. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mary "Mae" Hajducky Lesnick. In addition to his devoted wife, Elfriede, George will be remembered by his children, George Lesnick, Jr., David Lesnick, and his companion, Abigayil Shaw, all of Palm Beach, Fla., Elfriede Lesnick LeRoy, and her husband, Michael, of Mesquite, NV; his granddaughter, Kiele LeRoy, of Mesquite; his brother, Stephen Lesnick, of Glendale, NV; the members of the Hajducky family; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. His Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday at 11 AM directly in St. Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Drive, Fairfield. Interment with Full Military Honor will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
