Linda Dobel Obituary

Linda Driscoll Dobel
Linda Driscoll Dobel, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, cousin and friend to so many, passed away unexpectedly on November 2, 2018 at the age of 59 while surrounded by her family at St. Vincent's Hospital in Bridgeport. Born in Greenwich, Connecticut, on February 3, 1959, Linda grew up in Fairfield, a vivacious, charismatic, smart and career-minded woman who dazzled all who knew her. She graduated from Roger Ludlowe High School in 1977 and then from The University of Connecticut in 1981 with a bachelor's degree in English. She went on to become an editor of various publications over the years, where she excelled at her craft. Most who knew her would quake in fear of grammatical errors as she was known as the "red pen lady." Linda was an avid Grateful Dead fan, a loyal Wheel of Fortune viewer, had a deep love for reading books, and spending quality time with her family. She especially enjoyed spending hot summer days sunning in the sparkling pool at her home. She was also a devoted daughter who, with precision clockwork, made sure to phone her mother each and every evening to discuss one another's day and current events. Linda is survived by her husband of 22 years, Myron Dobel; their son Sean Dobel; her children, Colin McTiernan (Erin Prentice), along with their son and Linda's grandchild Benjamin McTiernan; Kyle McTiernan; her mother, Betty Driscoll; her sisters, Patricia Driscoll Harrigan (Gary Musante), Maureen Driscoll Reynolds (Keith Reynolds) and Laura Driscoll Jachino (Chris Jachino), along with her nieces and nephews, Lindsay and Jack Jachino, Paige and John Reynolds, Kelly and TJ Harrigan, and Candace Musante Grayson (Lee) and Joe Musante; and numerous friends and colleagues. Linda was predeceased by her beloved father, Thomas A. Driscoll, who also left this close knit family at the young age of 53 and with whom her family gains comfort knowing they are now reunited in heaven. Linda loved her children with all her heart, just as her children loved her. She opened her heart and home to all of her children's friends over the years as they were growing up in Trumbull, Connecticut. She cheered on her children's successes and loved to spend time working with them on their school assignments and projects. She taught them her craft as best she could and ensured her boys found a love for reading and writing while instilling an eye for detail. In addition, Linda was considered the special aunt who actually took the time to find that "right" gift for each and every niece and nephew. Linda was a beautiful woman with a beautiful soul. Her smile and laugh will be deeply missed by her friends, family, and all who knew her. Friends may greet the family in the Redgate - Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and 4 Gorham Place, Trumbull on Wednesday November 7th between the hours of 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. on November 8th, meeting directly in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 149 South Pine Creek Road, Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations are made to the Family and Children's Agency, 9 Mott Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06850.
