Campbell, Carl R.
Carl Robert Campbell of Stratford passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 23, 2013. He was born in Keene New Hampshire on April 13, 1916, and graduated Keene High School in 1936. Predeceased by his wife of over 60 years Marguerite Alice, son James and, most recently, his daughter Jeannie, three brothers Oscar ,Emil, James, he is survived by his sister Nan Lake, cousin Margret Scarrell and a great amount of relatives. Carl's career included positions at Sikorsky Aircraft, General Electric, and his greatest honor was working with NASA on the Hubbell Telescope as an inspector. Carl enjoyed playing Santa Claus at many events. He was a member of Eisenhower Senior center and a valued member of their bowling league; a member of the Coast guard auxiliary and a member of the Swedish Singing Society (SS Norden club). He enjoyed attending races and was the first runner to finish at age ninety (Hitekracing) foot racing. Carl enjoyed motorcycles since he was a young man when he got his 1st Harley. He proudly attended the University of Bridgeport when he was over 60 years old for computers skills in order to keep up with the newest technology at work. Carl was a good and kind soul whom never a bad word to say about anybody. He had a special zest for life, enjoyed dancing, spending time outdoors and was always willing to explore new adventures. He loved traveling throughout the country to visit with family and friends, and would often pay visits to the sick. He brought a smile to everyone he met and will be missed by a great many family and friends he met along the way. When Carl was one and a half years old he suffered frostbite to his hands and feet. He never allowed this disability to hinder him; rather he used this as a testimony to God's grace and love for man through the power of Jesus. He lived his life like Jesus commanded "Love one another just as I have loved you, so also must you love one another". A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, 300 North Benson Road, Fairfield with the Rev. David DeVries officiating. Friends may pay their respects Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. Carl and his late daughter Jeannie will be interred later in the month in their family plot in Porter, Maine. Fore information or to sign an online guest register please visit
