David Vodola Obituary
David Vodola
It is with great sadness that the family of David Pond Vodola, age 74, announces his passing following a brief illness on Friday, April 6, 2018 at Bridgeport Hospital. He was born on June 29, 1943 to the late David E. Vodola and June Pond Vodola McKiff. A native of Milford and active member of the community, Mr. Vodola was a founding member of the HTYBFO Sailing Club and formerly served as Tax Collector for both the Cities of Milford and Shelton, CT. A veteran, Mr. Vodola was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy. He was also very proud of his tenure as an officer for the Shelton Police Department. In his later years, his outgoing nature and entrepreneurial spirit led him back to the world of sales where he had a very successful career working for Horizon Foods. In his retirement, he volunteered with the Milford Hospital Emergency Room. David will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Betty Lawrence Vodola; daughter Wendy Vodola Cahill and her husband Joe; grandchildren Cole and Hailey; brother Joel Vodola Sr. and his wife Marlene of Orlando, FL; longtime best friend Bob Chrisman; favorite cousin Paul Vodola and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Christian Vodola; his sister, Diane Valdivieso, and step-father, Thomas McKiff. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 13, 2018 at the Woodmont United Church of Christ Congregational, 1000 New Haven Ave., Milford, at 6:30 p.m. Interment will be private. Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of David to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation in support of IBD Research.
