Horst Theodor Schwarz
Horst Theodor Schwarz, 89, of Huntington, Connecticut, passed away on September 10, 2018. Horst was born in Leverkusen, Germany on April 19, 1929 and immigrated to the United States in 1950. He met and married the love of his life, Ingeborg Isenberg, on May 28, 1955 in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
Horst served in the United States Army and became a citizen of the United States after his honorable discharge in 1953. Horst was a certified baker for many years and later worked at Universal Thread Grinding as a machinist until his retirement in 1994.
Horst enjoyed country, classical, and Dixieland music. He loved dancing, traveling abroad, gardening, and watching the birds as he sat on his backyard patio. Above all, Horst loved his family. Horst is survived by his loving wife, Ingeborg, and his son, Ronald T. Schwarz (Sandy Slaga), grandson Caleb K. Slaga-Schwarz, and granddaughter, Hannah M. Slaga-Schwarz, of Rockford, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theo and Anni Schwarz, of Offenbach, Germany. The family sincerely thanks Horst's doctors and The Connecticut Hospice nurses and staff for their devoted service. Horst will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 150 Chapel Street, Stratford, Connecticut. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Connecticut Hospice or Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church of Stratford, Connecticut.
